I’ve always been fascinated by statistics, and the Control Panel for my web hosting has several popular web statistics generating packages built into it.
It’s always interesting to know who comes to the site, and how many people from where. It’s easy to think that it’s “just a few people I know” that come here, but that’s really not the case. Google brings a lot of people here looking for various things. I get at least one request every other month from somebody who has googled my article on resetting the Vista 350 desk phone asking for help with that particular phone that Nortel seems to have forgotten. Especially moreso, now that these dinosaurs are starting to show up “refurbished” at electronics liquidators for as little as 2% of what we paid for these things when they were new.
I think I can safely say that the Vista article is the most referenced by comments, but it’s far from the only one. And it’s gratifying that some people - some total strangers who may live on the other side of the world - find this site interesting or helpful.
If you want, expand this article and take a look at a screen shot I took of my web statistics that shows the countries that this site gets hits from. I posted this before, but I just find it fascinating. (Even if I find the US Military hits a little creepy.)
