It’s all over the news, but Jerry Goldsmith - one of the most well-known Hollywood composers of this generation - is dead at the age of 75.
Aside from writing almost all of the Star Trek scores for the movies - as well as the themes for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, he also wrote scores for Planet Of The Apes, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Total Recall and Dr. Kildare.
Jerry’s music was used and re-used in dozens of lesser known films. Just about all of that “Haven’t I Heard That Somewhere Before?” action hero music in the Bruckheimer films was done by Jerry.
His talent, and his music - and the way it moved us - will be deeply missed.
First Reagan, then Brando, now Goldsmith. I think they must be shooting a movie in heaven or something.
