Everything I Need To Know I Learned From My Cat

Quote Of The Moment

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

Boo. I know.

Netscape has released a version of their browser that doesn’t use the Internet Explorer or the Mozilla engine to renders pages. It uses both. If I understand this correctly, if it renders a page with Mozilla and there are perceived problems with it, it falls back to Internet Explorer. That’s one smart browser.

The user interface and most of the other “guts” are clearly based on Mozilla code and people who are used to using Firefox won’t find any big surprises. Even though the screen is laid out very differently most of the keyboard shortcuts work great. It also imported my saved passwords, bookmarks and such from Firefox without complaint or error.

Apparently this thing has improved security features and is a little faster than Firefox. I haven’t seen either of these yet, but I must say I’m impressed so far. The default skin is very pretty too and very “un-Windows”. I’ll write more after I’ve played with it for a week or so.

  1. Wow. It is great. I can’t believe that I didn’t trip all the sensors at (insert big Canadian mobile phone company name here)’s website that *requires* Internet Exploder. Wow. I’m already impressed, and I’ve only looked at 3 pages.

  2. I thought the skin was ugly… better than the previous look of Netscape, but still ugly…
