Everything I Need To Know I Learned From My Cat

Quote Of The Moment

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

A friend of mine is trying to migrate from Outlook to Thunderbird. I’m trying to migrate the other way, mostly just due to a “lack of slickness” in Thunderbird.

But no matter how hard I try, I just can’t handle Outlook 2003. It drives me insane. Everytime I decide to “give it a shot again”, I find something new that I hate about it.

Thunderbird works. It’s just… boring. There are some things I like very much about Outlook. But it’s problems outweigh that. I would give anything to know why the fonts in my message composition window are so frickin’ huge. The messages look fine in the Reading Pane or on the recipients end, but I feel like I’m writing with a red crayon the fonts are so huge. And no, I don’t have large fonts set on my desktop. It’s ridiculous.

  1. I still call it “Lookout!” any application that puts up a dialog on exit that says “Please wait while I unbloat your system” deserves to die!

  2. Yikes. Don’t go back to the dark side my young padawan learner! Exactly what “slickness” factor are you looking for? Grab one of the recent nightly builds - theres some interesting new stuff there. The calendar extension is pretty nifty too. That was the only other Lookout feature I ever used other than just email. Let’s all face it - email is boring. Asking email programs to be slick is like trying to pimp out a 1989 Ford Escort.
