As the poweredbycoffee.net kazoo orchestra begins to play Pomp & Circumstance it is my pleasure to welcome you to this week’s Amateur Stupidity Scholarship presentations.

Our recipient today is… for no other reason than the fact I’ve always wanted to award an A.S.S. to him… is Bill Gates.

Today as I was showering I was thinking about days gone by when I actually used to program a bit, and I wondered “what the hell ever happened to Visual Basic”, so I went to Microsoft’s site and found out I could download an “express” version of the compiler for free, so hey… why not. It’ll be something fun to fool around with.

After the live updating installer downloaded 300 megs of to-be-installed goodness, I was greeted with the following dialogue box, which I think pretty much sums up the reason why Bill is receiving this coveted award today. (If it’s pixellated, click on it to make it bigger).

WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DOWNLOAD 300 MEGS OVER DIALUP!? For that matter who in their right minds is USING dialup still? (Shaddup, Ma.)

Here you go Bill. Hang it in your office.
