People who regularly comment (which is most of you), this doesn’t affect you.
People who might feel the urge to suddenly comment for the first time, it may be a while before I moderate your comments. Somehow I’ve ended up on the receiving end of a tsunami of blog spam. They must have figured out a way around Akismet. So in order to maintain my sanity at the highest possible level (challenging on the best of days) I have re-directed my blog comment notifications to a less-frequently checked/used e-mail address so I do not have alerts going off every 10 seconds.
Spammers suck. I hope they fix it soon.
This recent activity actually brought our server to its knees last night. I think Akismet was having issues yesterday, because the comments that WERE getting through were obviously spam with hundreds upon hundreds of links in the content. So far today though, it seems to be a bit better.
