It just confounds me. A bunch of Canadian ISP’s have decided to start filtering “child pornography sites”. Great idea? I wonder.
Am I opposed to child pornography? Absolutely. 100%
Do I think these idiots have the competency to administer such a list of sites? Not in a million years. Quite frankly I don’t care if it’s the ISP’s who are making the filter list or some third party anti-pornography organization, because regardless of who constructs the list, Rogers (my ISP) has the ability to screw it up. They can barely offer a coherent connection at a reasonable price the way it is, they keep offering less and less and charging more and more, they don’t care about their customers at all and with the ship already sinking, I don’t want to throw something else in their lap that they could possibly screw up.
In this country that we live in, if somebody is proven guilty of being a pedophile then by all means restrict or eliminate their internet access. It’s just as easy to do for one person as it is to do for a million. I don’t want this crap being distributed anymore than anybody else. I just think that it’s the wrong people doing the wrong job that they shouldn’t be doing, and that it’s a step in a direction that could bring far worse consequences down the road.
