There are a couple of things that I mentioned in the last blog that I want to make sure are in the database for this one before we get too far.
SALVATION FOR MICROSOFT KEYBOARD USERS - I got a lot of positive feedback on this one. To briefly review what I said before, a fella by the name of Jason Tsang has written a registry hack to fix the annoying F Lock key so that it defaults to the "old way" instead of the "new improved Microsoft way". His hack is available here and is highly recommended for all users of Microsoft keyboards with the F Lock key.
AN OLD FAVOURITE - Even though I have the aforementioned Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard, the "skip to next track" button doesn't work 100% of the time. It seems to have a problem when Winamp is buried "too deep" in the assortment of open windows on the desktop. On the other hand, my good buddy Milbertus has (long ago) written a wonderful plugin for Winamp 2.x called WinampKeys. This little plugin will intercept pre-defined keystrokes and let you skip forward, back etc with those keys instead of having to ALT-TAB out of your current application to click on the actual Winamp button. I consider it a Winamp Essential. Note - if you didn't catch my strong emphasis earlier - WinampKeys does not work with Winamp 3.x. And besides... we all know 3.x sucks sewer water through a party straw, right? Right. So use 2.x.
