I’m not a habitual liar.  But I like to think I can get the job done when it has to be done.  Why would you ever have to lie?  Well… let me backtrack.

One of the nice things about working from home is that I can live in the hours of the day I want to live in, which usually means staying up late and getting up late.  My problem is that the rest of the world doesn’t adhere to this calendar.  This means that about once or maybe twice a month I get woken up about an hour after all the banks have been open by someone who calls the house.

Everytime it happens I let the phone ring one last time so I have a moment to compose myself, take a deep breath and try to sound like I wasn’t asleep.  I FAIL every time, and it annoys the hell out of me.  The only drama class I ever took was one of the highest marks I’ve ever received.  I am good at this kind of thing.  But I cannot fool people into believing that they didn’t wake me up.

I think I may have to take a course.
