I just hit CNN before bed and saw their poll of the day. They asked if telemarketing sales calls should be protected under the American First Amendment.

NINETY THREE PERCENT (at the time of this writing) representing almost 17,000 respondants said NO.

If you wanna advertise, do it on the TV, or on radio or in the newspaper. Then the money you spend will be paying for the TV or radio show I’m watching, or funding the newspaper I’m reading. You do not fund my telephone. And spammers do not subsidize my internet fees.

Telemarketers and spammers are both hatched from the same alien reptillian kitten-eating egg (to quote a now-famous politician). I hope they put you out of business. I hope you’re homeless on the streets. I don’t give a rat’s appendix that it’s your living. FIND ANOTHER ONE. Democratic Representive John Dingwall said it best on the Congress floor today: “Unwanted telemarketing calls are less popular than a skunk at a church picnic, and they are more persistent and obnoxious than athlete’s foot.”

Canada needs to follow suit and take tough action against these morons, many of whom seek refuge in Canada and more accurately, in Toronto. But you can rest assured it won’t happen as long as Chretien and Eves are around.
