MacGuyver Strikes Again

Seems only a few weeks ago that I put the fans away, because it was cool enough I didn’t need them. Today it was a little cooler than it has been - and not even cold - but I felt the need to pull the space heater out and set it on the lowest setting only to find that it didn’t wanna fire up. The light would come on, but no fan, and no heat.
I fussed with it for a while and checked the breaker on the power cord, and everything was fine. Then I flipped it over and noticed the little fail-safe leg on the bottom. It’s designed ot turn off if you tip it off. In fact I bought it for that reason because of the cats. When I pushed the trigger with my finger, the heater turned on. I guess the mechanism was just starting to wear out, and it wasn’t quite touching the ground.
The first thought that went through my mind was admittedly tape. But tape would defeat the purpose of the tip sensor. The tip sensor was a tube shaped piece of plastic coming out of the bottom of the heater and all of a sudden the gears started turning in my head.
What do I have lots of that would just make the sensor long enough to hit the floor?
Case Screws!
Sure enough… it took a little convincing because the thread was slightly bigger than the hole, but eventually I got it to go in far enough that it wouldn’t come out. And after a test fire (no pun intended)… it worked.
