Indy On Two Wheels

Oh. My. God.

The Smoking Gun reports that 20 year old Samuel Tilley (no relation to the hat people, I’m sure) was recently clocked by Minnesota State Police for achieving a speed of 205 mph on a section of Interstate 61 riding a Honda 1000 motorcycle. For those of us who live in Canada that works out to 330 kilometres an hour.

The fastest speed I’ve ever experienced (behind the wheel) is 235 kph or 146 mph - in a 91 Chevy Lumina Euro. (And no I didn’t get a ticket, the cop was a friend. Long story.) I’ve gotta tell you…. 235 kph is pretty damn scary. It was a thrill, but my heart was pounding like a hammer.

To put this in a local perspective… Brockville is almost 300 km on the nose from Bowmanville. At the speed that guy was driving he could make made that trip in under an hour. It takes me two and a half hours driving at the “accepted” speed of 120.

We agree with the Smoking Gun. This guy deserves a trophy… not a speeding ticket.
