My Surrender To The Centrios Revolution

I’ve long resisted the Radio Shack Circuit City branded crap they sell in their stores. It’s usually made in China and sucks. But. Today… I gave in.

I went there yesterday to get something - I forget what - and I grabbed a flyer on the way out. I threw it in the bathroom and figured I’d read it eventually.

Last night before bed I was flipping through it and found this. My jaw dropped. I have been looking for a gizmo like this for years. I am continually pulling my tower to get to the audio jacks to switch speakers for headphones - or vice versa - or to plug in a mic. This box eliminates all of that, and puts headphone and mic jacks right where I can get at them. And it only cost twenty bucks. I ran to the store today and picked one up.

I was right. It was cheaper than dirt. I don’t know if I will get a year out of it, but it will be a happy year and my tower will be happy not to get jarred around so much. It even has a BONUS feature I didn’t know about. I thought those two big knobs in the picture were volume controls but it’s an A/B switch. The box sports a second input so you can toggle between your computer and another sound source (can you say “Nano”?). So now I can listen to tunes when I’m on the computer without necessarily loading iTunes which is getting more and more bloated by the day.

S’cool.
